Some more of my Lacy Samples

Structured Fabrics

All my previous work has involved me screen printing my drawings and then working into these drawings with stitch to build up textures and colours. As this process is something which I enjoy doing I wanted to continue sampling in this way to develop and experiment with colour and pattern.

While creating more flat samples I have been attempting to create structured pieces after looking at structural elements within organic forms. A lot of these have been created in paper, however I found when using fabrics they were a lot more difficult to control and work with.

The samples are created with my drawings screen printed on to the fabric. I quite like the idea of having some pieces of the print hidden and also I think through distorting the prints of the organic forms it gives an interesting effect combined with the structural elements.

Stitch and Line

Keeping with the theme of organic forms I have been using my inspiration  which I gathered while staying in London during the Summer.
My inspiration is coming from a combination of plant forms and under water sea life. I started to develop my line drawings into stitch to create textural rhythmic samples.
